Pure Phase Ensemble 4 – live album and films

Here’s a live album and a set of films documenting the 4th edition of of Pure Phase Ensemble workshops curated by Mark Gardener at SpaceFest! in December 2014.

Pure Phase Ensemble is an international music collective created specially for the SpaceFest! festival in Gdansk organised by Nasiono Association.
Each year in the first week of December several musicians from Poland and abroad take part in such workshop held in Laznia CCA in Gdansk. Together they compose the music material which is then presented in a concert to the audience during the festival. Their performance is recorded live and then released on a CD.
The programme of each workshops is curated by Ray Dickaty, a British saxophonist improviser, in 1997-2002 a member of Spiritualized and Karol Schwarz (KSAS) who manages Nasiono Records. For every edition of PPE a new musical director – a legendary, internationally recognised musician – is invited to co-curate the workshop. In PPE4 case it was Mark Gardener (RIDE).
